Here’s some wiring diagrams showing which wires you need to leave connected when you upgrade a Honda CX500’s CDI system to either an Ignitech or Rae San Full Hall Effect Kit, with either the stock G47 or an upgraded G8 stator (eBay US, eBay AU).
Not sure which bit is which? Here’s a photo to help:

Stock wiring in this area looks like this:

Not sure what the plugs (represented by the rectangles above) look like? Check the Honda CX500 Stator and Pickup Test page for a refresher.
Ignitech Wiring
The Ignitech (eBay US, eBay AU) needs this:

Advance pulsers are not used by the Ignitech. If they are still functional you can leave them in and connect them to the dummy load on the Ignitech if it comes with one, else disconnect them or remove them from the motor as you please.
The blue/white connector from the G47 CDI stator is not used. The charge-only stator is a good idea – it’s cheaper and more powerful than the standard CDI one.
The ground wire won’t exist on a G8 stator, so you will need to ground the green wire – it’s feasible (and neat) to tap some threads into one of the stator holes and mount it there in the same fashion as the stock ground wire, but it’s not strictly necessary to do it in that fashion.
The Ignitech DOES require the high and low speed left and right sided pickup wires to be connected. These are bundled in with the stator wires in the stock loom but do not connect to the stator itself.
Rae San Full Hall Effect Wiring
A Rae San Full Hall Effect Kit needs this:

The only wires from the stator you need to connect when using a Rae San Full Hall Effect kit are the three yellow charging wires.
Because of this – same as the Ignitech – it makes sense to use a higher-output G8 charge-only stator as found in the CX/GL650 and GL500 Silverwing bikes.
