The lower rocker arms press against the camshaft lobes on one end and push the pushrods on the other on your Honda CX500, GL500, CX650 or GL650 engine. There was an update to the rocker arm design for the 1981 500 models – the CX500/GL500 part numbers 14441-415-000 and 14442-415-000 were updated to 14441-415-010 and 14442-415-010 respectively. Note that the GL500 was introduced that year (ignoring the JDM GL500 designation) and thus only ever got the newer parts. Those numbers will make more sense if you read the Honda prodcut code page.
A note – the rocker arms are “handed”, thus the two part numbers – there’s one of each type on either side (two on each side, four per engine). Don’t mix them up. Old on the left, new on the right:
