Honda CX500: Replacing the handlebar clamp with a Honda CB500 Four clamp

Looking for something a little bit different for your CX's bar clamp? We found a 1972 Honda CB500 Four bar clamp to be the right size, though definitely check the dimensions vs. your own before ordering one. Why this clamp in particular? We like the look:



After experimenting with several locations for LED idiot lights we found that there wasn't a location we liked better than the above! The underneath looks like:



Good old Honda standard colours for the wiring, which makes hooking it up quite easy. Assuming you have already relocated your fuse box, remove your existing bar clamps with a 6mm Allen key:



It can be easier to mark with pencil or tape where the handlebars sit in the clamps in case you move them during installation - you don't want them off-center or you will find your bike heading off to the left or right unintentionally. Undo the screws in stages, moving to the opposite corner each time. All four out:

The wiring needs work (!) as does the clamp paint and the bolts are a bit corroded but we like the look. It's nice to be able to see the steering stem nut too!
