Brake pedal lengths and available swaps – Honda CX500, GL500, CX650, GL650

Looking for a longer or shorter brake pedal for your Deluxe, Shadow, Custom etc.? Here’s the difference in shape and length between the various Honda CX500, GL500, CX650 and GL650 model brake pedals.

Here are the length and weight differences between the various Honda CX500 model brake pedals - including the GL500, CX650 and GL650.

Top to bottom:

  • 46500-449-000 – Honda CX500 Custom, Honda GL500 Custom Wing
  • 46500-415-000 – Honda CX500 Standard, Deluxe, Shadow, GL500 Wing
  • 46500-MC5-000 – Honda CX500E Sports, CX650E Eurosport

Not shown are:

  • 46500-MC7-000 which is the brake pedal for the Honda CX500 Turbo and CX650 Turbo
  • 46500-MA1-000 which is the brake pedal for the GL500 Silverwing and GL500 Silverwing Interstate
  • 46500-ME2-000 which is the brake pedal for the GL650 Silverwing and GL650 Silverwing Interstate
  • 46500-ME8-000 which is the brake pedal for the CX650C Custom

Most people asking about these are interested in swapping between the Shadow/Standard/Deluxe with the Custom or vice-versa. This is possible as the splined shaft that they fit onto is the same. The footpegs are different between the models, though! The lengths:

Here are the length and weight differences between the various Honda CX500 model brake pedals - including the GL500, CX650 and GL650.

  • 46500-449-000 ~347mm
  • 46500-415-000 ~237mm
  • 46500-MC5-000 ~220mm

As you can see the Custom variant is about four inches longer than the Standard/Shadow/Deluxe – which makes using the Custom pedal with the Deluxe footpegs rather impractical as the gap between the peg and pedal is huge! One famous CX500forum.com member described it as a setup requiring shoes like Sideshow Bob

As a footnote, here are the weights of the pedals:

  • 46500-449-000 ~582gm

  • 46500-MC5-000 ~359gm
