Following on from the previous page:
I was still chasing a good colour match for the original Dawn blue for the cast steel vices, so this one was repainted in a navy colour rather than the original red:

The quick release handle cleaned up:

I would expect that there is a washer missing from here based on the other Dawns I have:

The screw shows signs of wear more in some parts than others - look at the thickness/angle of the part that has no lubricant on it (i.e. the bit that ends up in contact with the nut):


Still clamps firmly across the whole range so it doesn't seem to be problematic wear. While assembling the vice to test how the quick release function worked there was a lot of slop when pulling the dynamic jaw back and forth using the handle; I'm not sure what was originally down the other end of the screw but for the purposes of testing I was able to take out the slop with 8mm of washers before the cotter pin:
