Today I am reviewing the Cigweld Weldskill W4015800 Tig Welder Foot Control Pedal (you can usually find one on eBay AU). It has an 8-pin connector at the end of an 8 meter long lead – quite a handy length, as it turns out.
After a couple of days of use I ended up getting pics of it… it doesn’t come in the box this beaten up:
It’s designed for the Cigweld 200HF AC/DC unit, but I am using it with the straight Cigweld 200HF DC-only welder. It plugs in and appears to work just fine – though at $429 it might give you pause considering it’s over half the value of the 200HF unit itself. It is possible to build your own, but what’s your time worth?
Thus far the pedal seems to work fine for the DC-only HF unit with the exception of an occasional burst of power when you let off the pedal – this doesn’t happen with using the original equipment that came with the welder, so at this point I can’t say whether it’s a success using it with this welder or not – YMMV.
Otherwise, it’s a really handy addition to a welding kit – if you haven’t tried foot pedal control it is a darn sight easier to manage than rolling the standard Weldskill power dial on the back of the torch.
