If you’re looking for a cheap G8 charging-only stator for your Honda CX500/GL500/CX650/GL650 you will likely come across a generic Caltric stator.
This is a charging-only stator, as said above – so if you have a CDI CX500 that is running the stock CDI box this won’t run your bike. If you have a CDI bike and run an Ignitech module, this stator will work. The CDI stators are often called G47, and the TI charging-only stators are often called G8. All eighteen windings on the G8 stators like this Caltric are for charging.
This Caltric stator is quite cheap – under $90AUD delivered, not on sale – so it’s quite appealing to those who are trying to save a few bucks on their triple or quadruple bypass.
The stator comes in a small box:
Basically the only other thing on the box is the model number:
Inside we find:
Heatshrink – or rubber tubing, connectors and crimps and the stator itself. A closeup of the windings:
More:
You can see the thin resin coating over the windings. There’s a cable guide screwed into the body:

Part 02 is coming when we actually install it in a motor.
