The starter clutch is attached to the inner part of the flywheel; in this photo it’s the rusty circle on the inside of the flywheel with the three Torx bolts:

Looking at it more closely, we can see that there are little cutaways with some rollers in them:

Behind the rollers are the caps, which contain springs:

You should be able to press the rollers back with a finger, compressing the springs:

The rollers are hardened steel:

Once they’re removed, the caps should be pushed out by the springs:

You can lift the cap and spring out;

The end of the cap has a hole in it:

The other end is open:

The spring sits inside it like so:

Roller, cap, spring:

Part numbers (All CX and GLs, non-turbo and turbo alike):
The torx bolts should not be re-used if removed:

There are three torx bolts in total holding this contraption in:

We used a T40H Torx bit to remove them:

One removed, much junk in the threads:

Another one had a white crystallised substance in the threads:

More:

All three removed:

The remaining piece should lift away:

The reverse side:

The flywheel underneath:

The part in the middle is actually a washer/spacer:

…and that’s all of the components of the starter clutch!
