Removing the speedo cable – Honda CB125E, GLH125SH

The speedometer cable on a Honda CB125E is attached at two points; one at the speedo drive on the front wheel, and one at the gauge cluster. Grab a Phillips head screwdriver and remove the bolt that holds in the drive end:

The screw should come out fairly easily on bikes of this age:

The cable should then slide out freely:

At the other end, you should be able to see the silver part you need to unscrew:

Unscrewed:

The top end of the cable should be able to be removed now:

Make sure not to kink the cable or bend it too sharply when removing it from the cable stay:

Speedo cable removed. Don’t bend it like this, it’s just to make it fit nicely in a photo!
