Looking for a way to identify which Weber 32/36 carburetor you have on your vehicle? Look on your carb here, outlined in red. This is the opposite side to the choke:

It’s probably pretty dirty there if your engine is anything like ours but underneath the grime you should find some stamped letters to indicate which variant it is:

As you can see this is a Weber 32/36 DGAV30A with a serial number of 001602. So what does that mean? Let’s break it down.
D
D here stands for Doppio – or twin in English – presumably referring to the two throttle butterflies/venturis.
G or F
The second letter refers to whether it is a right-handed or left-handed carb – they’re mirror images of each other. G is the right handed variant, F is for left. A DF carb has it’s throttle rotating clockwise where the DG rotates counter-clockwise and the primary/secondary barrel position is of course reversed (since they are mirror images).
A, E or nothing
The third letter refers to the choke type – A for aqua (aka water) choke, E for electrical choke and no letter at all for manual choke.
V
V here stands for either Vertical or power Valve equipped, depending on who you ask.
Putting it all together you might have the following:
- DGV – Right-handed manual choke 32/36
- DGAV – Right-handed water choke 32/36
- DFEV – Left-handed electric choke 32/36
More Information
The 32/36 is a downdraft carburetor, originally designed for use for motors of between 1200-2300cc capacity.
