Need to remove the main crankcase bearings on your Honda CX500, CX650, GL500, GL650, CX400, GL400 or GL700 motorcycle? Here's how. For this you need a hydraulic press and the Honda tool 07973-4150000. A hammer and socket of about the right size isn't going to cut it! Place the crankcase in the press, bearing side up:

It has to be bearing side up as the locating tang is on the side that will press out by doing it this way. A closeup of the bearing about to be pressed out:

The "R" end goes in through the bearing:

From there it should be an easy press:

Make sure the bearing drops out onto something soft. Once the bearing is out the tool should drop slightly - stop pressing at this point!

The bearing is now out!

On this one the join in the metal is fairly clear:

If you are removing both of them, now do the crank cap bearing.
