You may notice on an electrical schematic a “starter disconnect switch” – a name which doesn’t really suggest where on the bike you might find it. As it turns out, it is the switch attached to your clutch lever – here you can see the two wires on photo left coming from behind the clutch lever:
Pulling in the clutch lever allows the starter to fire; if you look at the electrical schematics you’ll notice that it’s linked to the neutral safety switch so that the bike could be started either in neutral or in gear with the clutch pulled.
