I was asked today how well a Honda CX500 Standard/Deluxe/Shadow tank fits on a CX650E Eurosport frame; I assume that the same applies to the CX500E Sports, GL500 and GL650 as they share similar frames. The rear mounting hole lines up neatly, however:
The mounting points on the tank which grab the rubber bumpers are farther apart on the CX500 tank, so if you were to do this I think that adding some material to stop it from shifting from side to side would be advisable... or as Murray has pointed out, you can use the rubbers from a different bike - check them out on eBay. The line down the bike is definitely different - it looks as though it would expose more of the top of the motor:
