What's the difference between the Honda CX500 CDI and GL500 or TI oil pumps?

There are two oil pumps in use in the 500s; the older 15100-415-000 and the newer 15100-MA1-000. The MA1 - as it's Honda product code suggests - was introduced with the GL500 in 1981, and appears to have been used on other TI bikes introduced after that point. We have a writeup coming of the differences, but in the meantime here's a short list:
