A closer look at the regulator/rectifier - Honda CX500, GL500, CX650, GL650

What is a regulator/rectifier?

This part of your electrical system performs two functions; firstly, the rectifier converts the alternating current (AC) produced by your stator/alternator and turns it into direct current (DC) that is usable by your bike's battery charging system and other 12V components. Secondly, the regulator manages the voltage produced by the stator to ensure that it is not too much or too little - too much and you might damage electrical components or overcharge your battery, too little and you will not charge your battery.

The three yellow wires you see there (two are obvious, third behind) connect to the three yellow wires coming from your stator.
