Here's how to remove the advance pulser cover from your TI-equipped Honda CX500, GL500, CX650 or GL650. You need to do this to remove the rear engine cover on a TI twisted twin, or to access the advance pulsers. The cover is found at the very back of the motor, and is part number 30372-MA1-730 (eBay) for the GL500s, 30372-ME2-000 (eBay) for the GL650s and 30372-MC7-000 or 30372-MC7-010 (eBay) for the Turbos and CX650s. We don't know what the differences are, unfortunately. Here's the cover on a CX650E:
There are six bolts holding it in:
On the shown CX650E cover four are short flange bolts - 6x25mm, part numbers 96000-0602500 or 96001-0602500 (eBay). The bottom and bottom left bolts are longer - 6x40mm, part numbers 96000-0604000 or 96001-0604000. The GL500 parts fiche shows that there are three long and three short bolts with the same part numbers - we don't have one and can't check that, sorry! Use an 8mm socket to remove:
Bolts removed:
The cover should come free without too much effort:
On the right hand side the advance pulser wires exit through a little rubber grommet - pull the grommet free from the pulser cover as you remove it:
Now your cover is removed! If you're doing this as part of the triple or quadruple bypass, click here to go back to the bypass page.
