Looking for how to push out the old grease from your bearing or for an easy way to fill a new bearing with grease before installation? Lisle have what they call a "Handy Bearing Packer" for just that occasion. Here's our review of the unit we picked up from Amazon. The base of the unit is plastic:
Add the bearing grease of your choice (Amazon):
Get your bearing - this one happens to be new, though an old bearing will do just the same:
Seat it around the shaft - tapered end down:
On goes the handle:
Ensuring that the tool is seated on a flat, hard surface apply pressure in a directly downward fashion. Your grease will be forced up through the bearing:
Remove the handle:
Does what it says on the box! If you do a bunch of bearings or just want an easier way to fill them with grease than doing it by hand this tool is pretty handy (possibly why they even included that word in the name...). If you put pressure on the handle off-center you'll get a larger amount of grease coming up past the O-ring but not so much that it's an issue on our unit.
