If you want to separate the two halves of your Weber 32/36 DGV, DGAV or DGEV carburetor you need to unhook the choke linkage; here’s how to do it. The choke linkage is on the top of the carburetor assembly and is located here:

The choke shaft is part number 10020.221 and the bit we want to unhook is part of the choke control lever assembly, which is part number 45034.090.

The two pieces are held together with an E-clip – part number 10140.501. It may not be obvious where the opening on it is so you may have to rotate it with a pick or similar tool. Shown moved with a pick here:

You should be able to push it off with a pick or similar:

Using a small pry bar you can separate the two parts now:

On the side where the choke linkage was there’s a dust cover and little plastic guide:

Pry it out gently:

Underneath that there’s a little plastic guide – it should fall out fairly easily:

Now that the choke linkage is no longer connected you can proceed with removing the bolts that hold the two carburetor halves together.
Now you can go on to the next step – separating the halves – or go back to the main Weber 32/36 cleaning page.
