How to change the air filter – Holden Commodore VE VF SV6 3.6L V6

Need to change the air filter in your VE/VF Holden Commodore with the LFX 3.6L V6 engine? Here’s how.

First off grab a new air filter – we used a Ryco A1557 (eBay AU):

As you are facing the engine bay the air filter is on the right hand side (left side of the car):

The plastic top is held on by a number of metal clips; unclip them all:

Here you can see the old filter – the top side is the side that faces the incoming air so it should be dirty if the filter is old:
